The White Rock White Rock is named for this local landmark, a 423-tonne (466 ton) boulder. Situated on White Rock's beachfront, the White Rock is thought to be a glacial erratic. The rock is not naturally white, but has been painted that colour since the 19th century so that it could be used as a navigation point. In the folklore of the native Semiahmoo people, the son of a Sea God tore the rock from the top of a mountain on Vancouver Island and threw it across the Georgia Strait. Address: . White Rock BC
